I have been quiet because I lost my little camera; no bad thing as the lens was scratched. It meant me searching on line for a second hand one which has just arrived today. JOY!
No; golden refers to something far more prosaic. Gold leaf. Well, imitation gold leaf (the real being a bit pricey and I couldn't tell the difference anyway).

Ordering a box of 25 sheets from Ken Bromley art supplies, the possibilities seem endless, this is how I have done so far. Just messed about with a couple of small boards.
Jack, my son back from university says making 6 of very similar paintings is probably not going to work. It was an idea of mine to have a series, where the sun changed position in the sky and when all 6 lined up together would effectively show the sun set, frame by frame.
I have one to be entered into the Black Swan Arts and will hear if it is accepted soon. The other two are more or less finished, making three.
Have I become carried away with the idea of a series to the extent I have lost sight of what I will actually be left with, or it is worth making another 3 or 4? I would like to sell them to keep me in tea and paint.

Please let me know your thoughts - all are welcome.
When I'm 'on a roll' I have several paintings on the go at once and because of this, they end up naturally linking to eachother but you must follow your own instincts with this. If it pleases you, then it's going to work out well! I don't know if this is very helpful but art tutors at college would always recommend working in a series.
ReplyDeleteI haven't submitted to the the Black swan Arts before, good luck! :)

ReplyDeleteYou are an artist. To be driven through the need to make some income might impinge upon the process. Finish the process. Satisfy the creative expression within. Then replicate and market may be. An exhibition even? Sell limited edition prints perhaps? When ever I've been driven to do something for cash it hasn't worked. Being creative however if others dig it is so rewarding in several ways. Your integrity is priceless.
